Gua Sha guide til hudpleje. Sådan gør du

How to use a Gua Sha

It's easy to add to the Gua Sha massage or practice on its own, and all you need is a Gua Sha stone and a bit of nourishing facial oil. There are different methods of using a Gua Sha tool, depending on whether you want to tighten and lift the skin, do lymphatic drainage or relax the muscles in the face and neck.

If you are completely new to Gua Sha and are looking for a simple method, then you can benefit from following this guide:

Start by cleansing your face and apply 2-3 drops of facial oil in your hands and massage it into your face, neck and décolleté.

1. The neck

  • Place the stone on the back of your neck where it meets your back along the spine
  • Guide your Gua Sha stone gently upwards to the back of the skull and give yourself a gentle massage by wiggling the stone a little
  • Repeat 5-7 times

    2. The neck

    • Place a hand under the collarbone on one side to support the tissue and movement
    • Lay the Gua Sha stone flat over - first one - the collarbone and pull it gently and slowly upwards until you meet the jawbone
    • Do the movement 5-7 times and repeat the process on the other side of your neck.

    3. The jaw line

    • Position the V-edge of your Gua Sha so the tool hugs your jawline
    • Hold the stone flat against your skin
    • Slowly follow the shape of your jawline until you meet your ear
    • You can support the movement and tissue by pressing a finger on the center of your chin where you start the movement
    • Repeat this process 5-7 times on each side of the jawline

    4. Lifting

    • Place a supporting finger at the corner of the mouth
    • Hold the flat side against the skin and guide the stone from your jawline to your cheekbones, then out towards the ear
    • Wiggle the stone slightly to give a gentle massage
    • Repeat this 5-7 times on each side of the face

    5. Cheeks

    • Place a supporting hand or fingers right next to the nose from where the movement starts. Use the V edge of your Gua Sha stone here
    • Place it next to your supporting fingers and pull along the cheekbone up towards the ear
    • Massage slightly by wiggling the stone
    • Repeat a total of 5-7 times on each side of the face

    6. Eye area - NB be careful and use feather-light strokes in this area

    • Place your ring finger in the inner corner of your eye to gently hold the tissue
    • Place your Gua Sha stone next to your fingers and use the appropriate end of the stone. Next, pull out towards the hair line along the eye
    • You can wiggle the stone a little and thus massage gently
    • Use the serrated side of your Gua Sha to make gentle zig-zag movements where you have visible crowsfeet
    • Repeat a total of 5-7 times

    7. Eyebrow lift

    • Place two fingers between your brows
    • Use the V edge of your Gua Sha and pull outwards following the brow bone until you reach the hairline
    • Gently massage the area by wiggling the stone a little
    • Repeat 5-7 times on both sides of the face

    9. Forehead

    • Place your fingertips on your brow
    • Lay the Gua Sha stone flat over the browbone and pull up towards the hairline
    • Here you massage with light movements
    • Use the serrated end of your Gua Sha to make gentle zig-zag movements across your wrinkles and fine lines. Especially between your brows to reduce the 11's
    • Repeat a total of 5-7 times on each side of the face
