Er din hud tør eller dehydreret?

Is your skin dry or dehydrated?

It can be a bit difficult to distinguish between dry or dehydrated skin, and unfortunately there are many who think they suffer from "dry skin", but it is actually dehydrated skin.

In short, the difference between dry and dehydrated skin lies in the fact that when the skin is dry, i.e. you have a dry skin type, it means that there is a lack of oil/lipids in the upper layer of the skin (epidermis) and you generally suffer from a deficit of the essential fats. If, on the other hand, you have dehydrated skin, it means that your skin lacks moisture, and this is because you are in a general fluid deficit or where the skin is affected by e.g. heat or humidity.

The skin is our largest organ and contains a lot of water in it, as it helps to create a healthy and protective barrier. However, the skin's moisture level is never constant and because there is continuous natural evaporation in the skin, moisture must also be constantly added to the skin in the form of liquid to compensate. If you don't add enough liquid to the skin, it will result in dehydrated skin.

Good tips for you with dry or/and dehydrated skin:

If you suffer from dehydrated skin, the first thing you need to do is make sure you get enough fluids in the form of water and herbal tea. Preferably 2-3 liters daily, and more if you have an active lifestyle and do a lot of sports. In addition, it is recommended to consume essential omega fatty acids, which also penetrate and moisturize the skin from the inside. Good sources of omega fatty acids can be nuts (especially macadamia and walnuts), seeds (especially hemp, chia and flax seeds) as well as fatty fish and avocado. Make sure you also take care of your skin from the outside with a good and nourishing facial oil and mist. We recommend our Skin Therapy Regenerative Facial Oil, which contains, among other things, Kalahari Melon oil, which is precisely rich in essential omega fatty acids, and is thus very suitable for both dry and dehydrated skin, as it moisturizes the skin on a cellular level and leaves the skin hydrated and soft.
